In the 30+ years that Burton Motors has operated, thousands of cars have been cared for by the hands of Bradley Burton and his team.
Burton Motors was born in a one car garage under the Burton family home in Rochedale South in 1992. With 4 kids running around, it quickly became necessary to build a slightly larger workspace separate from the house, but that didn’t stop the kids from following along to be closer to their dad.
As the reliable, fair and trustworthy work of Burton Motors became more popular, the big step was taken to purchase a piece of land on Rowland St in 1997. In the early days at Rowland st, Brad's wife, Merie, stepped into the administrative side to give Brad's single typing finger a break. Over time, the one-man army expanded to become a team of experienced mechanics and apprentices, and a full-time staff member to man the desk. At it's core, Burton Motors has always been a family business and even at Rowland st it wasn't uncommon to find Joshua, Breanah, Brodie or Riley spending the day at the workshop with their dad.
Over his lifetime, Brodie had been watching his dad tinkering with everything mechanical since before he could walk. Since he was old enough to hold a screwdriver, he was taking things apart and putting them back. Starting out his career in high performance vehicles, it was no surprise that after 10 years in the industry, Brodie went to join his dad in the workshop again.
Until unexpectedly in 2024, Brad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After 30+ years of standing at the helm, not once taking a break from his careful stewardship over the workshop, Brad needed to step back to undergo treatment. There was no one he trusted more to take over the stewardship of his dream than Brodie alongside the unwavering support and camaraderie of Ed and Kris.
After a brutal 11 months, Bradley Burton passed away on the 9th of April 2025. Burton Motors stands as a legacy for what he believed in; hard-work, fair trade and respectful relationships. Brodie and the team carry on that legacy every day. And just like Brodie with his dad, you’ll often find Brodie’s sons visiting the workshop to hang out with their dad.
